Agreement to these terms
These Terms of Service govern your use of FairEnough, an app for coordinating chores, bills, shopping, and communication within a shared house. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use FairEnough.
These terms work alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains what information we collect and how we use it.
The service
What FairEnough is
FairEnough is currently available on iOS. It helps housemates track chores with a fairness score, split and settle bills, share a shopping list, message each other, and coordinate a house calendar. We may add, change, or remove features over time as the app develops.
Accounts
Your account
- You need to be at least 13 years old to use FairEnough, or the minimum age required in your country to hold an account without parental consent, whichever is higher
- You're responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide, including your display name, and for keeping your login credentials secure
- One account per person — accounts aren't meant to be shared between multiple people
- You're responsible for activity that happens under your account
Houses & shared data
How shared houses work
FairEnough is built around houses, not individuals in isolation. When you join a house, your name, the chores you're assigned or complete, your part of bill splits and settlements, and anything you post to the house's shared messenger or calendar become visible to the other members of that house. This is how the app works, not an accident of the design — housemates need to see each other's contributions for the fairness scoring and bill splitting to mean anything.
Leaving a house stops new activity from being shared with it, but historical records — past chore completions, transactions, and messages — may remain visible to members who were part of the house at the time, for the sake of an accurate shared record.
A free house can have up to 8 members. This limit may change over time.
Subscriptions
House Pass
House Pass is an optional paid upgrade, currently priced at $3.99 AUD per house per month. It's billed to the Apple ID of whoever purchases it, through Apple's App Store subscription system.
- Subscriptions automatically renew each billing period unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the current period ends
- Your Apple ID account is charged for renewal within 24 hours of the end of the current period
- You can manage or cancel your subscription any time in your device's Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions — we don't process cancellations directly, as we don't have the ability to
- Prices are shown in your local currency at checkout and may change; we'll give notice of any price change before it applies to you
- Refunds are handled by Apple under their own refund policies, not by us directly
Acceptable use
Using FairEnough responsibly
Please don't use FairEnough to harass or abuse other users, post anything illegal or intentionally deceptive, attempt to access another person's account or house without permission, or interfere with the app's normal operation or security. You're responsible for what you post to shared spaces like the house messenger — keep it something you'd be comfortable with your housemates actually reading, since that's exactly what happens.
Termination
Ending your account
You can delete your account at any time from within the app. Deleting your account removes your access to FairEnough; some records tied to shared house activity — the kind described above — may remain visible to other house members as part of the house's history.
We may suspend or terminate an account that violates these terms, particularly around acceptable use.
Disclaimer
No warranty
FairEnough is provided "as is." We don't guarantee it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or perfectly accurate — chore fairness scores and bill calculations are tools to help your household coordinate, not a guarantee of a particular outcome or a substitute for housemates actually talking to each other.
Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any consumer guarantee, right, or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law or any other law that can't lawfully be excluded.
Liability
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, FairEnough and its developer aren't liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app, including disputes between housemates over chores or money — the app is a coordination tool, not a party to those arrangements. Where liability can't be excluded, it's limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
Changes
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the app changes. If we make a material change, we'll make a reasonable effort to let you know in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use FairEnough after a change means you accept the updated terms.
